Spending a night in London before your tour can make such a difference to the first day of your holiday - you can arrive in the capital in good time, relaxed and ready to join your Tour Manager the next morning. You may even want to take in a show on the West End or dine in one of London's famous restaurants. Perhaps on your return to London, you would like to break your journey with an overnight stay before continuing home.
We can book a wide range of hotels in central London or, for our holidays beginning with a flight, at Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester Airport for the night before or after your holiday. If you require a quote for single occupancy at any of the hotels, please contact us on 01904 734 805.
Buying tickets for UK train services can be a tricky business - there are so many fares to choose from, each with different rules and restrictions. As you are connecting with an international departure, we strongly recommend that you book a fully flexible ticket to ensure that should the departure times for your holiday change, your rail ticket can allow for these changes.
We can book fully-flexible UK rail tickets from your local station to join your holiday whether this be a European holiday from St Pancras or a UK holiday. The prices are competitive and tickets are not restricted to a particular train or time of day, and in most cases offer you a free choice of routes.
For an up to date quote from your local station, please ask one of our Tour Advisors.

Calabria is a very scenic and historic region which is well worth visiting with Great Rail Journeys. There were 33 in our group, including our tour manager. Despite Ryanair shifting flight times by a day at short notice, new border control protocols and slight changes to the itinerary as a result, things ran relatively smoothly. The excursions by either coach or train or both were excellent. The boat trip to Stromboli was a highlight for everyone. Our tour leader David should be highly commended for the way he organised the itinerary for our group and dealt with any issues that arose. Pizzo and Scilla were definite highlights of the trip, both beautiful coastal towns. Our hotel was excellent and the choice of food was fantastic, with omelettes cooked to order at breakfast and fresh pasta dishes at dinner, along with lots of fresh vegetable side dishes to help yourself to in the buffet restaurant. A choice of white, rose or red local wine or Italian beer was great to have. Bottled water and soft drinks and tea and coffee were always available too. One thing we couldn't understand was that the air conditioning in the rooms was controlled by reception and as a result our room was too warm. I had to turn it off at the fuse box in our room in the end. The communal areas of the hotel and the pool area were kept spotless. A very good maid service daily with fresh towels as required. There's lots to see in Tropea, about 15:minutes walk away from the Michelezia complex where we stayed. The cathedral at Reggio is definitely worth a visit. There's a huge amount of historical buildings locally worth seeing. We didn't feel the need to eat out elsewhere as the food and drink at the hotel were so good, but of course there were plenty of options. The tartufo chocolate ice cream we had in Pizzo, organised by David our tour guide was probably the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Well worth a trip to Calabria, supposedly Italy's poorest region. Despite this, locals and the staff at the hotel were happy and engaging. We would book another trip to Italy with GRJ.

A truly hidden gem of Italy, art, ancient culture, clean sea of turquoise colour, affordable prices, a cup of coffe for one euro, friendly people, very clean hotel, great mediterranean food! No need to go to the other side of the globe to get a fraction of this! Highly recommended!

Great trip, good food at hotel+outdoor swimming pool. Railway station was about a 25min walk. Beach was more awkward, but the hotel ran a shuttle bus 4 times a day. Reservable the prejudices day.

We have limited mobility and chose not to do some excursions, but the hotel and the courtesy bus gave us plenty of options. On the couple of excursions we did, we had about thirty carers! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was excellent. The restaurant had a very wide and varied choice of dishes and the local red wine was extremely drinkable.
